After the final vote in the Senate, the US Congress this Thursday approved the defense budget in which the compulsory vaccination against covid-19 for the military is abolished.
This provision was added against Democratic President Joe Biden’s position, making it a victory for Republicans, who had threatened not to vote on the bill unless they withdrew that requirement.
Mandatory vaccination for the military has led to the exclusion of 8,000 of them, according to the Pentagon.
This health restriction, one of the last major ones still in effect in the United States, was intended to protect the health of American soldiers.
The text, which funds defense for the 2023 fiscal year, has already been approved by the House of Representatives and now only needs the president’s signature.
Its total amount is astronomical, approximately 858,000 million dollars. About 10,000 million was earmarked for military aid to Taiwan.
