Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang said the government is currently finalizing the subsidy amount for electrified vehicles. Subsidy for each purchase of a unit electric machine about IDR 80 million and IDR 40 million for hybrid electric cars.
According to Agus, not all EVs will receive subsidies in the form of price rebates. There are a number of conditions that must be met in order to receive the subsidy.
According to him, the government requires subsidies to be given to vehicles that have factories in Indonesia or electric cars made in Indonesia. Meanwhile, for electric vehicles with status fully built (CBU) was not further explained.
“Incentives will be given to buyers who purchase electric cars or motorcycles that have factories in Indonesia,” said Agus.
Referring to Agus’ statement, this means that not all electrified vehicles are subsidized or only Indonesian-made models. Below is a list of locally assembled electrified cars that are potential subsidy recipients:
Wuling Air EV
Since it was first launched, Wuling Air EV has not stopped attracting consumer interest. In fact, the Air EV became Indonesia’s best-selling electric car in October and November 2022.
There are two Air EV variants sold in Indonesia, the standard range with a range of 200km and a long range of 300km. For the standard Air EV range, the price is Rp. 250 million, and the long haul is priced at Rp. 300 million.
The standard Air EV range is equipped with a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery; IP67 rated with a battery capacity of 17.3kWh/115V. Full charge takes 8.5 hours.
Meanwhile, the long-range Air EV features the same battery but with a larger capacity of 26.7kWh/115V. It only takes 4 hours to fully charge the battery with 6.6kW AC.
Hyundai Ioniq 5
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the first electric car produced in Indonesia. There are four variants of the Hyundai Ioniq marketed in the country, namely the Ioniq 5 prime standard range (priced at Rp. 748 million), Ioniq 5 prime long range (Rp. 789 million), the Ioniq 5 signature standard range (Rp. 809 million) and signs Ioniq 5 long range (859 million IDR).
In terms of performance, the standard prime and standard Ioniq 5 signature variants can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds. Meanwhile, the Prime Long Range and Signature Long Range models can accelerate the car from 0-100km/h in just 7.4 seconds.
As for the mileage of the standard prime and standard signature variants, they can be driven up to 384km if the car’s battery is fully charged. So the long-range main variant has a range of 481 km and the long-range signature type is 451 km.
Toyota Innova Zenix hybrid
Innova Zenix Hybrid can be said to be the new prima donna of hybrid electric cars in Indonesia. Just launched in mid-November, the Zenix Hybrid sold 624 units wholesale or through distribution from factories to retailers.
The Toyota Innova Zenix Hybrid is equipped with a new engine, a 2.0L TNGA coded M20A7-FXS with 1,987cc four-cylinder Dual-VVTi engine. This engine is capable of unleashing 152 HP at 6,000 rpm and 19.1 kgm of torque at 4,400-5,200 rpm.
The hybrid engine combines an electric motor with 113hp of power and 21kgm of torque, resulting in a combined power output of 186hp in the system. Innova Zenix is also equipped with a 10-speed CVT transmission
The Innova Zenix Hybrid costs IDR 458 million to IDR 614 million.
Wuling Almaz hybrid
Wuling Motors’ flagship car, Almaz Hybrid, has just been launched in early November. Wuling sells this model at IDR 470 million.
Wuling Almaz Hybrid is equipped with a 2,000cc 4-cylinder petrol engine. This machine can produce a maximum power of 123 HP and a torque of 168 Nm.
There is also an electric motor which has the capacity to produce 174bhp and 320Nm of torque. There is also a lithium battery with a capacity of 1.8 kWh.
To transmit these skills to the front wheels, Wuling relies on the dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) specific to the Almaz Hybrid.
Suzuki Ertiga hybrid
Suzuki officially introduced the Ertiga Hybrid in mid-2022. The Ertiga Hybrid is sold from IDR 270.3 million for the lowest variant to IDR 292.3 million for the highest variant.
Ertiga Hybrid uses a 1,462cc K15B engine. The power generated is 103.2 HP and 138 Nm of torque. The Ertiga Hybrid is also equipped with an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) and a lithium battery which is located under the front passenger seat.
The ISG has two roles, namely capturing and storing energy in the battery during deceleration and as a motor that supplies additional energy to the engine so that it runs easily during acceleration.
The 6Ah 12V lithium battery is equipped with an airtight lid to protect it from splashes of water. However, Suzuki urges Ertiga Hybrid users never to experience a flood as it could damage the battery. Battery capacity and function indicators are located in the MID.
