The Moroccan Football Federation has released a statement to FIFA on Qatar’s World Cup semi-final decision against France.
On the 14th Morocco will face France in the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar. Morocco, who had displayed an impregnable defence, conceding only one goal so far from an own goal, conceded early on and conceded another goal in the closing stages. On the other hand, the attacking team could not break down the physical defense of the French defense to the end and lost 0-2 as it was.
Morocco made a big surprise by beating Spain, Portugal and Belgium in this tournament, becoming the first African team to advance to the quarter-finals, but their dreams of progressing to the final were dashed when they lost to the French champions. Meanwhile, the Moroccan Football Federation appear unconvinced by some of the match’s decisions.
The following day, the 15th, the Moroccan Football Federation presented FIFA with a written opinion regarding the decision against France. In it, he wrote: “The Moroccan Football Federation has written this sentence to ask the competent authorities to review the decisions”, and was surprised that two penalty kicks were overlooked and the VAR did not intervene.
“Two penalties, which from the point of view of most experienced referees are indisputable, were not awarded to the Moroccan team. The Moroccan Football Federation is also very surprised that the VAR did not intervene in these situations.”
Referee Cesar Ramos showed Boufal a yellow card after Sofian Boufal appeared to have been brought down by Theo Hernández in the penalty area in the first half of the match. There was even a moment in the second half where Selim Amalah appeared to have been brought down in the opposition penalty area without blowing his whistle.
