RIYADH Saudi Arabian he was a fundamental ally United States of America (USA) for decades. Until now, the government hosting the Muslims’ holiest sites had been promised military protection by Washington.

The forerunner of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia became an American ally beginning with the events of February 14, 1945.

It was on that date that the then President of the United States; Franklin D Roosevelt, returning from the Yalta Conference where he met with Winston Churchill of Great Britain and Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union, and King Abdulaziz Al-Saud; founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

After the meeting, King Abdulaziz was summoned to meet Roosevelt personally. The meeting took place aboard the USS Quincy in the Suez Canal.

That special meeting resulted in both leaders signing the Quincy Pact.

According to reports Middle East TrackingThursday (12/15/2022), the most important part of the deal or pact is that the United States will provide unconditional protection to the al-Saud family ruling the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in exchange for guaranteed Saudi energy supplies to America for a period of 60 years.

During the presidency of George W. Bush in 2005, the agreement was renewed for another 60 years.

During this long period, everything went well and the relations between the two countries were also good until finally Prince Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud became Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia in 2017.

When Joe Biden entered the White House as US president in January 2021, he completely ignored Prince Mohammed as Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader.
