French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his great respect for the Argentine wizard, Lionel Messi, who will lead his country against France next Sunday in the FIFA World Cup final, underway in Qatar.
Messi aspires to finally crown his first World Cup title, but faces Kylian Mbappé, his teammate at French side Paris Saint-Germain, who is eager to lead the ‘Roosters’ squad to keep the championship title for the second edition in a row, after winning the last World Cup in Russia 4 years ago. .
Macron spoke about Messi, attending the European Union summit in the Belgian capital, Brussels, today, Thursday, when he said: “He is a great player when he plays for Saint-Germain, but I prefer him in the club rather than in the national team of the his country”.
Macron said he has great respect for the “magnificent” Argentina national team, but is still optimistic about France’s ability to win the World Cup, with a well-prepared squad and a great mix of young and experienced players.
“I think we are the favorites to win the title,” Macron said.
Macron was in the stands of the Al-Bayt Stadium to support his country during the 2-0 victory over Morocco yesterday, Wednesday, in the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar, to fix a fiery appointment in the final against Argentina.
