GIANYAR, BALI EXPRESS – Till now, HIV/AIDS cases in Gianyar regency are still a serious concern for the government. Furthermore, HIV/AIDS is not only transmitted to key groups of the population or at risk, ie among sex workers or only among sex consumers. Because the most potentially infected are housewives and children who get infected through their partners.
As explained by Gianyar Health Bureau Acting Chief Ni Made Ariyuni in the program to improve health services for people living with HIV/AIDS on Thursday (12/15).
DPRD Commission II President Gianyar, as well as related agencies, also participated in the improvement of HIV and AIDS health services. Also present as a speaker was Dr. Agus Suryadinata of the Bali Provincial Health Bureau, I Made Maba, SKM of the Gianyar District Health Bureau.
He said that according to official data from the Bali Provincial Health Bureau, the cumulative number of HIV/AIDS cases in Gianyar Regency from 1987 to October 31, 2022 was recorded at 2,158 cases.
So as many as 208 PLWHAs died and as many as 1,489 PLWHAs were on ARV treatment or were actively taking ARV treatment. While HIV/AIDS prevention activities consist of health promotion, HIV transmission prevention, HIV diagnosis examination, treatment, care, support and rehabilitation.
Through these prevention efforts, in 2030 Bali, especially Gianyar Regency, is set to be HIV/AIDS free or with Getting Threehree Zero. To achieve freedom from HIV/AIDS, the steps taken are first, reducing to the elimination of new HIV infections, second; reduce to eliminate AIDS-related deaths and thirdly eliminate discrimination against PLHIV. “This is our hope, Bali and especially Gianyar in the next year to be zero HIV,” hoped Ariyuni.
Meanwhile, the steps currently underway are increasing the quality and quantity of AIDS health services, setting up KTS clinics, PMTCT services, Methadone services, STI services, PDP services or administering ARV drugs in hospitals and all existing puskesmas . For services to people living with HIV with services at KTS clinics in 13 PKM, 2 regional hospitals and 2 private hospitals and 1 Foundation. As for PDP, it is available at Sanjiwani Gianyar Hospital, PKM Ubud II and PKM Sukawati I.
The seminar also revealed that more people know their HIV status and receive early ARV treatment, this can accelerate the achievement of HIV epidemic reduction so that Indonesia can reach “3 zero”, i.e. no new HIV infections, no AIDS deaths, and no stigma and discrimination to achieve HIV elimination by 2030.
