Apple dominates the holiday narrative. And these seven announcements prove it.

In Spain we know it well the culture of Christmas announcements. We have the one for the national lottery and at the chimes we are always curious to know which company is the first to be announced immediately after congratulating us on the New Year. Whoever has the best announcement for these dates has people’s memory.

Apple knows this well and every year tries to have a Christmas commercial that shows the best shape of its marketing teams. They usually don’t fail in their mission to have the best that can be seen on television and networks, and nothing like some of those spots try.

Apple’s Christmas is family, get-togethers and appreciating the good things in everyday life

In 2021 Apple made one of the best examples with this ad showing frankly stressed parents traveling with their two daughters to see their grandparents for Christmas. The daughters pretend to be an earthquake, but in the end they surprise the family with a montage that ends up moving everyone.

Another ad that hit the mark was one in 2013, with a similar premise. The young man of the family turns out to be completely absent from the Christmas celebrations and finally shows that he has filmed everyone to make a home video that surprises everyone.

The 2018 “Share Your Gifts” campaign turned into animation, showing a girl who is afraid to show off her creations but eventually (by accident) ends up showing it in the middle of the street and earns the appreciation of those who are environment. An entire message so that no one hides their creativity.

In 2014, ‘The Song’ moved us, the commercial in which we see a young woman preparing a montage for her grandmother using a song she sang as a child. Of those that touch the sensitive fiber very deeply.

In this other commercial, Apple resorts to tolerance: Frankenstein scares all the inhabitants of a small town but ends up winning their affection by singing a Christmas carol.

Another more recent animation marking the arrival of Apple TV+ is the Christmas announcement of ‘Ted Lasso’, the service’s series which ended showered with awards. In the ad we see how good old Ted loses his mustache and has to get it back with the help of his team and friends.

Finally, we have some somewhat “catchy” commercials, like this AirPods commercial where a couple dances creating nines everywhere. It does not soften the heart, but remains original.

Apple’s ads may not appear on our TVs as much as they do in the US, but they have all the ingredients needed to stay in our memory for all the holidays. Let’s see what they can surprise us this year.
