NNA – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Abdullah Bouhabib, received the Senior Director for Middle East and African Affairs at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Masahiro Tada, who is touring the region.
During the meeting, Tada expressed his country’s continued support for Lebanon and the possibility of expanding the areas of interaction between the two countries and the exchange of support in international organizations. The importance of completing government procedures with the aim to speed up the start of work on the JICA offices in Beirut was also discussed.
They also discussed the situation in occupied Palestine, where the Japanese host stressed Japan’s continued adherence to the two-state solution.
Minister Bou Habib presented Lebanon’s position on the issue of displaced Syrians, underlining that “the funding provided by Japan and other countries to the High Commissioner for Refugees should go towards financing the return of displaced Syrians to their country, on the basis of the mission of the Commission itself”.

Minister Bouhabib also met with the British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, and they discussed the issue of displaced Syrians and the challenges Lebanon faces in this field.
