Today’s early warning low cold of 12 degrees is just 9 degrees Sunday

The climate is cold

Affected by the replenishment of the northeast monsoon and a swathe of rain, Hong Kong became noticeably cooler yesterday. The Observatory predicts that the weather in coastal areas of Guangdong will be chilly in the next day or two and yesterday issued a warning of cold afternoon, which is the first time since winter this year. Today’s low is expected to be just 12 degrees Celsius and the high is only 14 degrees. A strong winter monsoon is expected to hit the South China coast on Friday night. The weather in this area will get colder over the weekend into early next week…

The Observatory issued it at 4:20 yesterday. At 16:00, Ta Kwu Ling, Lau Fau Shan, Tuen Mun, Kowloon City and Tai Mei Tuk recorded a low temperature of 13 degrees. A large swath of clouds and rain covered the coast of Guangdong and brought rainy weather to Hong Kong, lowering body temperature. The Observatory underlined that the atmospheric pressure in central China is increasing. An additional northeast monsoon is expected to reach the coast of southern China this morning. According to automatic regional weather forecasts, the urban area is forecast to drop to 12 degrees at dusk today, and only 10 and 11 degrees in many areas.

The temperature will rise slightly tomorrow, with a high of 18 degrees on Friday. A strong winter monsoon is expected to reach the coast of South China on Friday night. The weather in this area will turn colder from the weekend into early next week, with strong winds and better weather. Sunday and next Monday the temperature fluctuates from 9 to 15 degrees, while it is only 7 degrees in many districts of the New Territories, and only 6 degrees in Ta Kwu Ling. Citizens should keep warm.

Next Thursday (22nd) is the winter solstice of the twenty-four solar terms, which is the day with the shortest day of the entire year. Traditionally, the whole family would get together for the winter, and there’s even a saying of “the big winter party.” The Observatory predicts that next Thursday the weather will be predominantly fine and dry, with temperatures rising between 14 and 19 degrees, and it will be quite cool in the morning and evening.

The Department of Home Affairs yesterday opened a total of 18 temporary cold shelters in various districts for citizens in need of shelter from the cold. The center will remain open while the daytime cold alert is still in force today. The SWD reminds the elderly to take care of their health and appeals to their relatives, friends and neighbors to pay more attention and condolences to the physical condition of the frail elderly, especially those who live alone. If required, please call the SWD hotline on 2343 2255.

The Health Protection Center advises that the temperature drops suddenly and the public should pay attention to changes in their bodies, especially those with chronic respiratory disease or heart disease, who are more likely to suffer from the deterioration of the condition due to the sudden drop of temperature. Parents need to make sure their child is dressed appropriately when the temperature drops.
