The national police and customs carried out a joint check in four grocery stores in the city center of the Gard city. The businesses were all in violation.

For several months they have been in the crosshairs of the police. In the Gard, checks in grocery stores are increasing. On Monday, December 12, 2022, a joint operation by the national police and customs took place in several districts of central Nîmes.

Four businesses received an unexpected visit from officers and four were in violation for the sale of tobacco or alcohol. In total, 180 packets of cigarettes and 55 packets of hookah tobacco were seized.

For the record, the sale of tobacco is reserved only for offices and tobacconists. Some businesses are also authorized to resell tobacco as a complementary activity to their main business. They are called reseller establishments. But these are only restaurants, bars and cafes (with III or IV licenses) or gas stations. They are forced to complete customs formalities and some obligations

Police and customs also seized 37 boxes of sexual stimulants, 30 “puff”, these are small disposable electronic cigarettes containing more than 2% nicotine and 200 liters of alcohol. Two crimes related to compulsory posting were also detected.
