Energy supplier Oxxio will compensate tens of thousands of customers for a mistake in raising energy tariffs. Around 50,000 customers fell victim to it between May and September and received a message on Monday about it. Oxxio hopes to pay compensation in January.
The error arose from some customers who switched from a fixed to a variable contract this year.
These customers were assured that the rates would not be adjusted in the first year, but this was done for part of the group between May and September. As a result, they have paid too much for their energy.
Oxxio can’t yet say how much money should be paid. “We need time to find out exactly, but we wanted to report the error early,” says the spokesperson. No incorrect fare changes were made in October and November.
