An insider explained why development of a reboot of Fable for Xbox Series X|S has been delayed

In recent years Microsoft has announced many new games from internal studios but only a few of them have been released so far.

One Xbox Game Studios project that doesn’t even have a tentative release window yet is the reboot Fable from Playground gamesintroduced 2.5 years ago. When his release will take place, it remains only to guess, but as he writes Jazz Corden from Windows Central, the game’s production was delayed due to the studio’s proprietary engine ForzaTechupon which the series is built Force Horizon.

According to Corden’s sources, Microsoft’s internal policy regarding the use of engines has led to problems in the development of games such as Fable and Halo Infinite, why the company tends to use its own toolkits, rather than popular industry technologies, such as Unreal engine. This, according to Corden, is compounded by problems with training employees and contractors, who can suddenly walk away from the project in the development process.

Former chapter Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booth said the authors of the new Fable for Xbox Series X|S and PC made considerable progressand the game itself looks really good. According to Jason Schreier, the studio is co-developer of the project Eidos, concluded cooperation with Microsoft.
