A swan was rescued from the ice this afternoon by the Eindhoven fire brigade. According to bystanders, the animal was frozen to the ice of the canal. Eventually two firefighters managed to get the young swan to safety.
In consultation with the animal ambulance employees, two firefighters entered the canal, towards the swan. The young animal then managed to free itself. But fatigue made it difficult for the swan to escape.
Eventually the firefighters managed to get the animal across the canal. There the swan could be caught with a catch stick. The weakened animal was taken to a shelter by animal ambulance to recover.
