According to the organizers of the concert, Liszt’s popularity could be compared with the phenomenon of the Beatles in the sixties of the last century, the brilliance of Michael Jackson in the eighties or the fame of rapper Eminem at the beginning of this century. In this concert you will be able to see the renowned Latvian pianist Elīna Bērtīns and the new generation Estonian conductor Henrija Kristofer Āvik on stage. Visitors will be delighted not only with music and stories, but also with animations created by artist Kriss Salmanis.

Francis Liszt is one of the world’s most famous pianists, composers and conductors, who irreversibly influenced the musical development of his era. His fame at that time was comparable to superstar status, while also discovering several new musical genres, including the symphonic poem, which became one of the most beloved genres of romantic symphonic music. On July 19, 1886, Liszt gave his last concert, intending to devote the end of his life to church service. However, 12 days after the last concert, the composer passed away.

Solo concert pianist Elīna Bērtiņa actively gives concerts both as a solo artist and in tandem with outstanding musicians and collectives, and also works as a teacher. She has performed with “Sinfonietta Rīga”, “Sinfonia concertante”, LNSO, Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, Olsztyn Philharmonic Orchestra and the German String Philharmonic, with whom she made a summer tour in 2018. Nominated for the “Great Music Award 2021” in the category “For outstanding work in an ensemble”.

At the concert, Estonian conductor Henry Kristofers Āviks will appear before the LNSO for the first time. This year, the 24-year-old conductor won first place at the prestigious Carl Nielsen competition in Denmark, as well as the Usedom music festival award, celebrating his intelligence, musical curiosity and charisma. He is also winner of the Evgenii Svetlanov International Conducting Competition. The overall winner of this competition since 2010 is the Latvian conductor Andris Poga.

For the ninth consecutive year, the LNSO continues its series of concerts with added educational value, in which the orchestra and storyteller Goran Gora introduce young people and academic music enthusiasts to the successes of classical music and their authors – composers of world fame. Each concert program is conceived as a multimedia adventure, integrating the music and lifestyle of the ensembles with specially created animations, dressing the educational content in a bright, attractive and youthful form.
