Russia’s new so-called “special operations” commander, Sergei Surovikin, has stabilized the front line in Ukraine and introduced discipline there, and analysts believe that ruthlessness makes this general a dangerous adversary for the Ukrainian military, according to the British newspaper “The Telegraph”.
“He’s probably the most competent commander Russia has appointed to this position,” says Dara Massicotta, a senior policy researcher at the Rand Corporation, a US think tank.
