LONDON: The results of an examination conducted among members of Parliament in the UK were worse than those of a 10- or 11-year-old child, reports have emerged. The exam was held in London the first week of December. The test was supervised by 11-year-old children. The scrutiny was attended by MPs including the Chair of the Towns Education Select Committee, Robin Walker.
The event was organized by “More Than A Score”, which advocates eliminating unnecessary exams. But only 44% of MPs met the expected standard in maths and English. The number of MPs is even lower when 59% of ten- to eleven-year-olds across the UK said they met the standards set for this year. With this, it has been shown that most of the MPs are children under ten and eleven in mathematics and English.
In any case, with the exams, MPs have begun to think seriously about the pressure on children of this age. It was reported that Walker also learned of the total overhaul of their exams. Walker admitted it was a tough ordeal. And Walker said children shouldn’t just be taught to pass exams, but should instead develop a love of learning in them.
