In her photo series “Once Appon a Time”, Argentinian graphic designer Luli Kibudi portrays popular apps and presents them in their retro format. In our weekly ranking, we show you the ten best graphics and what Netflix, Spotify and Co. would have looked like in the past.
Social media, streaming services and news apps are considered to be an integral part of our daily lives. But what we use digitally today was already available in analog form a few years ago.
However, it’s been a long time since we put video tapes in the recorder or used a tube TV. However, the memory of that time evokes a certain retro nostalgia.
Technology meets retro – this is how Netflix, Spotify and Co. would have gone before
Argentine graphic designer Luli Kibudi apparently felt the same way. In her project “Once appon once“ combines the media and technology of the past with the programmes, streaming platforms and communication channels we use every day today.
Technology in a retro format
For example, instead of using WhatsApp, we called our contacts. Instead of looking up information on Wikipedia, we would look it up in a book.
Kibudi meanwhile has been posting his projects on the Adobe Behance social media platform. In our weekly ranking we present the artist’s ten best graphics.
1. Instagram
Thanks to Instagram, we can share recordings of our best moments with other people with just a few clicks. In the days of analogue film much more patience was required.
