The Netherlands finished seventh in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on Sunday. The 12-year-old Luna Sabella from Belfeld in Limburg received 128 points from the audience and the jury. Thirteen-year-old Lissandro won the twentieth edition of the junior version of the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of France.
Lissandro, clearly a big fan of singers like Elvis Presley and Bruno Mars, sang a total of 203 points with Oh mom! Armenia, which hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year, took second place. Georgia finished third.
Luna kicked off the international show with her song The party. Then the long wait began. After the Dutch, fifteen other performances were staged in the Armenian capital Yerevan.
Luna had no problem with that wait, she told on Saturday ANP extension. “If you have to be first, you immediately get rid of the tension and then you can watch the whole show from green room see.”
Throughout the show, Limburger made it clear that she enjoyed all of the performances. “It’s good to be here and see everyone.”
Before the final, Luna was one of the favourites. With her seventh place, she did better than Ayana, who represented the Netherlands at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest last year. She finished in nineteenth and last place in Paris.
Of all the participating countries, the Netherlands is the only country to have participated in all twenty editions of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This resulted in a victory: In 2009 Ralf Mackenbach scored the most points with his number Click Clack.
