Skier Sofya Ivanova lost consciousness during the 10 km freestyle race at the stage of the Cup of Russia in Chusovoy (Perm Territory), reports “RIA New”.
Rescuers evacuated the athlete from the track on a snowmobile and handed him over to the ambulance doctors.
Ivanova’s coach Alexander Pridchin later reported “RIA New”that the athlete has improved.
“Everything is fine now, she came home with her parents, she moved. I do not know what happened. She walked away, she says: “I feel bad.” I say: “Be patient, it hurts everyone, it’s hard for everyone.” I didn’t think it would happen. She didn’t have to run the last race, she had to go to college,” the coach said.
According to Pridchin, Ivanova has recently been ill and will now have to undergo an examination. “There will be an x-ray, I had tests before the trip, everything went well, everything is normal,” she added.
