Christian Nikolov, the drugged street kid who killed journalist Milen Tsvetkov in a brutal accident in Sofia at Easter in April 2020, is preparing his wedding with his fiancée Simona Tsankova. this is reported in “Weekend”.
The wedding is scheduled for spring next year, and according to insiders, the wedding has already been postponed twice on the advice of the millionaire’s son’s lawyers.
Earlier this week, 22-year-old Christian Nikolov was sentenced to 9 years in prison by the Sofia Court of Appeal for the incident in front of the ‘Paradise’ shopping center which claimed the life of Milen Tsvetkov. the sentence imposed on Nikolov in the first instance by the Sofia City Court – 9 years’ imprisonment.
In April 2020, the young man’s jeep crashed at a speed of over 100 km/h into the popular journalist’s car, which was stopped at a red light. Christian Nikolov’s two comrades – his girlfriend Simona and Georgi, the son of former GERB deputy Lachezar Ivanov, fled the crime scene.
Eyewitnesses to the incident testified in court that instead of helping soul researcher Milen Tsvetkov, Nikolov and his comrades frantically rummaged in the jeep, allegedly to hide and dispose of the drugs they had used.
Subsequently, an examination established that Kristian Nikolov had used 3 types of drugs, which is why the prosecutor’s office requested that he be tried for causing the fatal accident with possible intent – a crime punishable by 10 to 20 years of imprisonment.
Kristiyan Nikolov spent several months in pre-trial detention, and after his release under house arrest it became known that he was engaged to his girlfriend Simona Tsankova. To this day, Milen Tsvetkov’s killer Burn lives with him in the family. The two live on the second floor of the house on Sofia’s central street “Lyuben Karavelov”. The property was bought by Christian’s mother – entrepreneur Desislava Pesheva – Nikolova for BGN 2.5 million in spring 2015.
Due to the future marriage, many assume that Christian Nikolov and his fiancée will get married in order to alleviate the prison situation of the murderer of Milen Tsvetkov. Prisoners with families are entitled to more frequent parole, as well as longer visits.
Those close to Christian Nikolov, however, are adamant that he wanted to marry his great love, Simona, even before she caused the accident that completely turned his life upside down.
Christian Nikolov’s 9-year prison sentence, handed down by two courts, was appealed by his lawyers, so the final decision will be taken by the Supreme Court of Cassation. Milen Tsvetkov’s relatives are also appealing the sentence and, according to them, Christian’s punishment should be more severe, between 15 and 20 years.
A month ago, in his last words before judges of the Sofia Court of Appeal, Christian Nikolov expressed his condolences for the first time to the relatives of Milen Tsvetkov and said he hoped they would get over the heavy loss.
“I have not used drugs, either hard or light. I ask the court to convict according to the law and judicial practice, and not according to public pressure. Please, purely humane, judge according to my conscience and give me the opportunity to continue the my life.
I am deeply sorry for what happened.
Please reverse the judgment of the Sofia City Court and refer the case back to first instance. There is an expression “Everyone carries his cross.” I will carry mine for the rest of my life,” Christian Nikolov said in the courtroom. However, his remorse has not appeased the magistrates. The lawyers of the millionaire’s son insist that he should go to prison for 4 years at the latest. .
In all likelihood, the final sentence of Christian Nikolov will be announced next autumn by the Supreme Court of Cassation.
