NEW YORK (AP) — Twitter is trying again to launch its premium service, one month after its previous attempt failed.
The platform announced on Saturday that starting Monday, users will be able to purchase the Blue Twitter subscription to get the blue tick and access special features.
The blue seal was originally awarded to companies, celebrities, government agencies and journalists whose identities have been authenticated by the platform.
After Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion in October, he launched a service to sell blue authentication for $8 a month. However, Twitter was inundated with fake accounts, including some impersonating Musk’s Tesla and SpaceX businesses, and suspended the service just days after it went live.
The relaunch of the service will cost $8 a month for platform users and $11 a month for iPhone users.
Twitter has announced that subscribers will see fewer ads, be able to post longer videos, and have more relevant tweets.
