A fire broke out in two sheds on the Rijksweg in Sittard in Limburg in the night between Saturday and Sunday at around 2:45 am. Firefighters were deployed with different units to fight the blaze. The buildings are located near the railway and because of the fire it was decided to stop the circulation of trains, reports the security region.
The sheds are part of a large block with several buildings including a fitness center and a tennis and padel court. “We have managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings,” said the spokesman, who stressed that it could take hours for the fire to go out. There were no casualties.
Due to the development of the smoke, the fire brigade is urging people in the area to keep their windows and doors closed.
