An explosion and fire on the British island of Jersey killed at least three people last night. Still missing a dozen people. About 25 injured were taken to hospital.
The explosion and fire broke out just before 4 in the morning in an apartment complex in the capital Saint Helier. The three-story building collapsed completely. The buildings next door were damaged.
It is believed to have been a gas explosion. Residents smelled gas last night, after which the fire brigade was called. Police are still investigating whether a leak in a gas pipe was the cause.
The fire has now been extinguished. Searching for the missing could take days, police say.
