Quito boasts at Christmas the highest giant crib in Latin America, located at an altitude of 3,000 meters in El Panecillo, the emblematic hill in the center of the Ecuadorian capital which presides over the statue of its virgin, 41 meters high, and for which on these dates the bright figures of the rest of the members of the birth of Jesus are added.
Down below, in the rest of the city, the streets are also lit up in busier spots like the historic downtown and financial district and shopping malls, some with flashing lights and bright colors.
