Government United States of America expressed concern about a “large-scale defense partnership” between Russia and Iran. The United States called the partnership “dangerous” for Ukraine, Iran’s neighbors and the world.
Western countries have accused Iran of supplying drones Russia while Russian troops hammer the energy infrastructure Ukraine in the invasion that has been going on since last February. Iran has denied the allegations.
“Russia is looking to partner with Iran in areas like weapons development and training,” White House national security spokesman John Kirby told reporters. AFP extensionSaturday (10/12/2022).
Moscow “has offered Iran an unprecedented level of military and technical support, transforming their relationship into a full-scale defense partnership,” he said.
“We have also seen reports that Moscow and Tehran are considering setting up a joint production line for lethal drones in Russia. We urge Iran to reverse course (and) not take these steps,” Kirby said.
Kirby said the United States is also concerned that Russia “intends to supply Iran with advanced military components,” including helicopters and air defense systems.
for pilot Iran said it has learned to fly the advanced Sukhoi Su-35 fighter in Russia, and Tehran could receive the aircraft within the next year, which would “significantly strengthen Iran’s air force against its regional neighbors,” Kirby said .
The United States also believes Iran is considering selling “hundreds of ballistic missiles” to Russia, Kirby said.
