When to go to New York? All about the 4 seasons!

In the winter, yes, it’s true that New York gets cold.
The the average temperature in winter is around 0°C and especially in January and February.
Now there is no truth: it is possible that sometimes it goes up to 10°C and other times that it is -10°C to -20°C for 8-10 days.
And the worst is not the temperature, it is the feeling of the wind and in particular in the avenues which are veritable corridors of the wind.
Now know that well covered, namely with tights or leggings under your pants, good winter socks, lined shoes, several layers on top and above all a good coat, scarf, hat and gloves, and it’s perfect. You will then be ready to enjoy New York to the fullest and not be disturbed by the world as it is the time of year when there are fewer tourists.
And since December the average temperature ranges from 0°C to 10°C, so yes between the beginning and the end of autumn, there is a big difference! 🙂

my good plan

January, February, and March are the real plans for a budget trip to NYC!

It is the time of year when the airfare is the cheapest just like the nights in the hotel.
Airline tickets are at a minimum during this time.
And you’ll find that hotel rooms are much cheaper too. It can be $120 a night in January and then in August or December at Christmas, $350. So it’s a really good plan.
Otherwise, as winter begins on December 21st, please note that during the holiday season (between December 20th and January 2nd), fares are extremely high for both flights (so book them as early as possible: 8 to 12 months in advance) or hotel (all the same, book as soon as possible!).

For the 2 weeks of the holiday season, New York offers countless things to do and see.
I’ve listed it all here in this article: What to do in New York during the Christmas and New Year holidays?

Then, once the holidays are over, and the month of January has been established, we enter the low season of New York tourism with falling prices and indeed some good deals such as New York City Restaurant Week which also allows you to pay less for restaurants, e Broadway week in New York City for Broadway musicals.
There is also the Winter Jazz Festivalthe Chinese New Yearof the NBA basketball games with the NY Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets, the final of American Football Super Bowl end of January (living in a city bar)…
And then what must not be missing in this period is the snow magic In New York! As soon as there is snow, I suggest you go and discover Central Park under this white blanket, it’s magnificent. There you will see New Yorkers with their cross-country skis, children with sledges… in short, Central Park becomes a small mid-mountain resort. 🙂

So yes going to New York in winter is FAN-TAS-TI-QUE!!!
