New York, Dec. 8. The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York today kicked off a two-month tribute to the work of Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro at the premiere tomorrow (on billboards in the US and on the Netflix platform) of his latest film , “Pinocchio”, a particular vision of the story of the wooden doll.
The series of tributes began today with a private gala at the museum to which del Toro was invited, with celebrities such as Jessica Chastain and Ariana DeBose, in a “themed” evening where all guests were required to wear black and what abounded complements di Canale, sponsor of the event.
On the red carpet prepared for the guests, the Mexican director briefly approached the journalists to underline that he felt “happy and flattered” to be a protagonist at the MOMA, the temple of New York culture with capital letters.
Starting Monday, MOMA is showing the general public an exhibition entitled “Crafting Pinocchio”, designed to show the backstage of the film and how the creator imagined and constructed the scenes of this interpretation of the famous fairy tale, which takes place in his case. in Mussolini’s Fascist Italy.
Subsequently, and during the month of January, the museum will present another exhibition entitled “Tales of Mourning and Imagination”, which explores the different registers of del Toro’s films, all of which form their own universe defined by, inter alia, for the beauty of monsters, subtle human relationships or the quest for redemption.
