The incidence of the corona in Rhineland-Palatinate has increased slightly again

Koblenz (dpa / lrs) – The officially recorded corona infections in Rhineland-Palatinate are on the rise again. On Thursday, the state Bureau of Investigations determined an incidence of 149.3 cases per 100,000 population within seven days. Thursday of last week it was 137.0 – this was the lowest level so far this year.

The incidence in Rhineland-Palatinate is therefore still below the national average. The Robert Koch Institute determined a national value of 214.2 on Thursday.

On Thursday (at 2.10 pm) the health authorities of Rhineland-Palatinate reported 2340 new Sars-CoV-2 infections. The number of deaths related to the corona virus has increased by three to 6586. According to data from the state investigation office, 24,649 people are currently infected with the virus.

The number of hospital treatments for the infected has also increased slightly: the incidence of hospitalizations has gone from 5.48 last week to 6.32. This parameter, important for the weight in the health system, indicates the hospitalizations of Covid patients within one week for every 100,000 inhabitants.

The reported incidence was highest on Thursday in the Mainz-Bingen district with 222.2. It was followed by the district of Bad Kreuznach (188.2), the city of Trier (184.5) and the district of Vulkaneifel (179.0). The city of Pirmasens recorded the lowest value with 74.9.

The actual extent of Sars-CoV-2 infections is assumed to be higher because not all infected people can be tested and only positive PCR tests are registered by health authorities.
