Two arrested in investigation into explosions in central Netherlands

Police have arrested two men on suspicion of involvement in explosions last summer at houses in the central Netherlands. It concerns men aged 36 and 21 from Amsterdam.

In July, there were explosions in several homes in the provinces of Utrecht and North Holland. The first was in a house in Hoef en Haag, a village under construction near Vianen. The next night, residents of a chalet park in Tienhoven, about 30 kilometers to the north, were startled by a loud bang in a cottage.

The following weekend, there was an explosion in Huizen, and at the end of July, there was another explosion in a house in Hoef en Haag. After the explosion, the mayor of Huizen decided to close the affected house and another house on the same street for “serious security reasons”. There would be immediate danger to local residents.

Other arrests are not excluded

Earlier, the police announced that they take into account the fact that the explosions are related to a conflict in the drug environment.

A police spokesman cannot confirm whether this suspect knows the two arrested in Amsterdam due to the ongoing investigation RTV Utrecht. Other arrests are not excluded.
