NATO members are continuing unprecedented arms deliveries and support to Ukraine despite fears that the conflict is drying up Western arsenals, Stoltenberg said.
“Just as important as the delivery of new systems is ensuring that systems or weapons we have already delivered are functioning and functioning effectively,” said the NATO Secretary General. “It means they need a lot of ammunition, spare parts and also maintenance.”
As Stoltenberg pointed out, the bottom line is that Ukraine is fighting to defend itself against Moscow, which is bombing civilian infrastructure to keep people cold and without electricity in the winter.
“Ukraine has the right to defend itself against these attacks,” he said.
As the head of the alliance pointed out, at the moment there is no such situation to be able to talk about resolving the conflict peacefully, “because Russia shows no sign of engaging in negotiations in which the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the ‘Ukraine would be respected.’
