Reasons why Bernardo Silva missed Portugal’s goal celebration against Switzerland

Jakarta, CNNI Indonesia

Bernard Silva be the only player Portugal who did not celebrate his team’s first goal against Switzerland in the round of 16 World Cup 2022Wednesday (7/12) early morning WIB.

The first goal for Portugal was scored by Goncalo Ramos, who started to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. The Benfica striker successfully completed Joao Felix’s pass in the 17th minute.

Sports bible launch, Bernardo Silva is the only Portuguese player who is not too late in the euphoria of the first goal scored by Ramos.

Initially, Silva joined the pile of players who were in the corner of the field or not far from the corner. A moment later, Silva immediately broke away and entered the field.

The Manchester City midfielder only seemed to stare at the celebration his teammate was having as he rolled onto his back in midfield.

It turned out that Bernardo Silva deliberately separated himself so that Switzerland could not kick off directly when all opposing players were off the pitch.

Article 8 of the FIFA Laws of the Game states that all players, except the player who kicked off, must be in their own half of the pitch. While the position of the players outside the field is considered not to be in their half of the field.

Silva apparently did not want to risk a direct kick-off which could be done by a Swiss player. The action received sky-high praise from netizens.

“Five-star player Bernardo Silva’s vision is visible even when he’s not playing,” wrote one netizen.

“This is very important, I think we all don’t understand this rule enough,” said another netizen.

England defender Kieran Trippier did the same thing at the 2018 World Cup. He didn’t take part in the mad celebration when Harry Kane scored against Tunisia.
