This is the culmination of the midterm elections in the United States where a definitive seat of senator in the state of Georgia was at stake. Outgoing Democrat Raphaël Warnock wins. President Joe Biden’s party consolidates the majority.

This time the suspense didn’t last several days. Despite the victory of Raphael Warnock in short, the evening of arrived this second round between the two African-American candidates. As so often, he was the Democrat who started by taking the lead on early ballots before everything stabilized. Encouragement for Biden
Raphaël Warnock will therefore be the senator of Georgia for the next six years. And that’s no small feat in such a contested state. This will allow Democrats to feel a little more comfortable asserting their views without depending on the goodwill of one of their own.

Though they narrowly lost a majority in the House of Representatives, it’s the first time since 1962 that the presidential party has expanded its Senate majority in midterm elections. Joe Biden, who is considering a new candidacy, will take that as encouragement. On the other hand, the Republicans have done much less well than expected. And they probably haven’t finished settling their accounts.
