Myth or reality, do people who like to be angry have high blood pressure? : health of the Okezone

Ada In society it is assumed that angry people are under pressure high blood. Is this perception true?

Internal medicine specialist Dr. Erni Juwita Nelwan, Sp.PD said that actually getting angry easily with high blood pressure has nothing directly to do.

However, Dr. Erni continued, there was a study in Japan that looked into this hypothesis. Then, researchers in Japan made observations to see if there was a link between emotions and high blood pressure.

“The results are not (related),” said Dr. Erni in his presentation on Live Instagram Okezone, Tuesday (6/12/2022).

However, there are other studies looking into this issue. The study was conducted by looking at age groups of young people and found that there is a link between blood pressure and emotional attitudes.

“So, there are groups that show a link between temperament and hypertension. However, this cannot be generalized,” added Dr. Erni.

However, what is interesting now is that people who like to get angry are likely to raise their blood pressure. That’s because when you’re angry, your blood vessels constrict and make your heart beat faster.

“If so, your blood pressure becomes high. So, if you like to be angry, you have a risk of hypertension, this is a possibility. But, if someone likes to be angry, it is certain that their blood pressure is high, this is not that’s for sure,” he explained.

“Also, because you like to get angry, not only is it a high blood pressure risk, you know, but it makes your face wrinkle so easily,” Dr. Erni said.
