  • The Sofia Court of Appeal upheld in full the verdict of the Sofia City Court in the incident in which journalist Milen Tsvetkov died, Sega reported, citing its sources in the prosecutor’s office.

Thus, on two occasions already, Christian Nikolov was found guilty of causing death by negligence with the cruel accident of April 19, 2020, and was sentenced to 9 years in prison and 10 years without a driving license.

However, the prosecutor accuses him of having caused the accident in terms of possible fraud, as he was driving after taking drugs and with a much higher speed limit. (Similarly, Georgi Ljubenov was blamed for the accident on the Sofia ring road which claimed the life of a French citizen). The prosecution asked for 15 years in prison. Now both the prosecution and Nikolov have the right to appeal the decision of the appeal court to the Supreme Court of Cassation, whose word will be the last.
