Explosion at construction site or one person killed Rescue activity for another person in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo | NHK

According to the Metropolitan Police Department and others, after 11:00 on the 6th, it was reported that there was an explosion at an underground construction site in Funabori, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo.

A male worker was taken to hospital from the scene and was later confirmed dead.

In addition, Tokyo firefighters are engaged in rescue efforts after another worker who was working with the man was trapped 20 meters underground.

By that time, the stairway leading to the underground facilities of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Waterworks had deteriorated and was being replaced.

The site is an area where houses and shops are concentrated about 500 meters south of Funabori Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line.
