A married man in mainland China divorced his wife for the sake of his mistress, and later responded to his mistress’s financial inquiries. Unexpectedly, he finally found that the other party had obtained a marriage certificate with her ex-boyfriend on 5th day after his wedding which made him angry I have to go to court. After the court hearing, the woman was ordered to pay back RMB 68,000 (about NT$295,803).

According to a report by terrestrial media “Shishi Daily”, the 42-year-old man surnamed Wang met a woman surnamed Qiao via WeChat “Shake” in 2016, when he was still married. To show sincerity, Wang Nan rushed back to his hometown to divorce his wife, and then had a wedding with Qiao Nu in February 2018.

After the wedding, Wang Nan repeatedly asked Qiao Nu to go with him to collect the certificate, but the other party refused. It wasn’t until August 2019 that Wang Nan found out that Qiao Nv had obtained a certificate with her ex-boyfriend on the fifth day after their wedding. Wang Nan believed that Qiao Nv was demanding property through marriage and love, so she sued the court and asked Qiao Nv to return RMB 180,000 (about NT$783,533).

In this regard, Qiao Nv stressed that she did not ask for property through marriage and love, and was forced to play a wedding with Wang Nan; she explained that she had a child with her ex-boyfriend, but she never registered her marriage to get the certificate.

After the trial, the court found that it was a voluntary act on the part of Wang Nan and Qiao Nv to donate money during their relationship. As for the money for the purpose of marriage and cohabitation, it was a gift. Therefore, Qiao Nv was ordered to pay RMB 68,000 (about NT$295,803) back to Wang Nan.
