Making human existence and coexistence possible on the Moon before the situation on our planet worsens is something much studied. Examples are launched rockets and their lunar targets behind. In recent cases, it is believed that the process will not take as long as it seemed.

Howard Hu, a senior agency official and leader of the Orion space program – a spacecraft project built to carry astronauts to the Moon and Mars – said the possibility of inhabiting the Moon was a near reality. The speech occurred in an interview with BBC News, by United States of America.
The Artemis mission is one step closer to inhabiting the Moon
The Artemis I rocket was launched on November 16 and carries the Orion spacecraft. The rocket is tied to the Artemis mission which aims to return astronauts to the Moon.
Ships destined for the satellite are sent unmanned, as is the case with the Orion spacecraft. To simulate possible damage involving humans, a dummy was taken.
The expectation is that, if the Artemis I flight is successful, the next launch will already contain humans.
When it will be possible?
Given the progress in science, it is not yet known when it will be time for us, people with no connection to special agencies, to set foot on the Moon. However, scientist Hu believes it is possible in this decade.
