A healthy and tasty recipe
It’s not easy to find ideas for simple and healthy snacks. If you hesitate between a package of industrial cakes and a homemade cake, Astrid Romain will quickly convince you.
Often at home my sweet tooths want to enjoy the classic cakes and other sweets… They sometimes come back with cakes bought in supermarkets and nothing goes there!
Preservatives, glucose syrups or even artificial flavors are far from seducing our micro-nutritionist. To remedy this, he came up with an improved healthy recipe for Liege waffles. Here is his recipe:
Tutorial: Making Liège waffles at home
To get you started, here’s the ingredients list:
- 750 grams of organic T80 ancient wheat flour
- 270 grams of oat or soy drink (milk)
- 4 organic eggs
- 400 grams of real organic butter (not margarine)
- 7 grams of yeast for brioche
- 300 grams of granulated sugar (sugar pearls)
- 120 grams of organic icing cane sugar
- Organic vanilla powder or a vanilla pod
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Now let’s get to the preparation:
Step one, take the butter out of the fridge to soften it. Then pour the flour into a bowl and mix it with the eggs, icing sugar and cinnamon. Then, in a saucepan, boil the vegetable milk and the vanilla pod for three minutes. Let cool until lukewarm. When it is lukewarm, dissolve the yeast and then pour the egg and flour into the mixture. Then add the softened butter. Mix well until you get a fairly thick paste.
Personally, I use a blender. This allows you to have a very thick batter and do something else while you wait.
Now comes the most important step! Let the dough rise for an hour and a half near a heat source. Once the dough has risen, gently add the sugar pearls so they don’t melt beforehand.
By gradually adding the sugar, the batter will caramelize as it cooks.
You can now add the batter to the waffle maker. Once the batter is toasted, remove your waffles and let them cool. Here is the result:
