BERCHING, LKR. NEUMARKT IDOPF. Berching’s man has been missing since Monday. Today, Saturday, December 3, 2022, the elderly man’s vehicle was found in the Main-Danube Canal. There was a dead man in the car.
Extensive investigations and searches for the 81-year-old were initially unsuccessful. An emergency response to a damaged ship in the Main-Danube Canal took place on Saturday, December 3, 2022, near Berching. In the late morning, emergency services traveling by boat touched an initially unfamiliar object. The object turned out to be the vehicle belonging to missing man Leo Plank. A dead person was later found in the vehicle. At the moment it is obvious that it could be the missing person.
The further investigation into the death, which also included the definitive identification of the deceased, was entrusted to the Regensburg Criminal Police Inspectorate under their jurisdiction. So far there have been no indications of a criminal offense or connection to the shipwreck. The vehicle has since been recovered from the canal by the Federal Technical Rescue Agency.
