As reported Reuters And Associated pressOn Saturday (3/12/2022), the Northrop Grumman Corp-manufactured B-21 Raider bomber was shown to the public for the first time on Friday (2/12) local time after its development was kept secret from the United States For years.
The B-21 Raider is the first in a new fleet of long-range stealth nuclear bombers for the US Air Force.
The B-21 Raider form was introduced to the public in a dramatic and closely guarded ceremony at Northrop’s Plant 42 in Palmdale, California. The ceremony began with the flight of three active bombers, namely the B-52 Stratofortress, the B-1 Lancer and the B-2 Spirit.
Then the hangar doors slowly opened and the B-21 Raider was partially pulled out of the building. United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin then introduced the stealth bomber jet to the public.
“This isn’t just any ordinary plane. It’s a manifestation of America’s determination to defend the republic we all love,” Austin said.
The B-21 is part of the Pentagon’s efforts to modernize all three phases of nuclear triage, which includes silo-launched ballistic missiles and submarine-launched nuclear warheads, as the United States transitions from the counterterrorism operations of recent decades to countering growing growth of China’s military modernization fast.
