Nadapuram: A young man who was running away after the mysterious death of a native of Kasaragod has been arrested. Tekunkal Samish T., originally from Kannur Kelakam. Dev (29) was arrested by the Nadapuram police. The young fugitive showed up at the DYSP headquarters on Friday morning.
Last Saturday evening, Sreejithi (39), a native of Kasarkot Cheruvathur, was found by locals with serious injuries along Canal Road in Narikatteri Kara. Nearby, Sreejith’s car had hit a light pole.
Sreejith died on Sunday morning while being treated in hospital. Meanwhile, footage of a person fleeing the crash site was found on nearby CCTV, leading to a breakthrough in the investigation. It was identified that Samish was traveling in a car with Sreejith but he could not be found.
It became clear that Samish had come to meet a local lady in the investigation which focused on Samish’s phone calls. Sreejith, whom he met at a bar in Mahi, was also taken along. Sreejith, who was very intoxicated, got out of the car and was in the canal area when the backing car ran over Sreejith’s body.
Samish pulled out the young man stuck under the tire of the car and laid him down. Meanwhile, Samish stated that the car’s tire got stuck in the stones and local people came to the crash site and fled. The arrested youth was taken to Canal Road and evidence was collected.
