Nearly one and a half million flu vaccines have been applied in Jalisco

Nearly 1.5 million influenza vaccines have been applied by various Health Department institutions throughout the state of Jalisco since Oct. 3 to the present; which represents a 57.9 percent advance in administering the doses allocated to protect the population from this entity, especially vulnerable groups.

One million 497 thousand 013 people were vaccinated in the state, while 2 million 584 thousand 226 vaccines were assigned; Therefore, the institutions of the Health Sector still have sufficient doses to cover the people most susceptible to complications from respiratory infections. The flu vaccine is available in the medical units of the OPD Jalisco Health Services, IMSS, ISSSTE and SEDENA.

In this sense, the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) invites pregnant women (in any week of gestation) to get vaccinated against the flu, as it reduces complications and the risk of death in case of contagion of the disease.

Respiratory diseases increase in the winter season, pregnant women, among other risk groups, are more vulnerable to this type of infection.

CASES
In today’s court, the SSJ serves 41 new cases of the flu and no death. Thus, there are 130 accumulated cases in Jalisco in the seasonal flu season (October 2022- March 2023) and three confirmed deaths. In all three cases, the deaths occurred in people who had not been vaccinated against this viral infection.

In Mexico, the accumulated number of cases is 3,586 positive for flu in seasonal season. of this total 3,408 son of the type AH3N2. Likewise,the country records 40 deceased due to illness.

The states with the highest number of cases are: Nuevo León, Querétaro, Aguascalientes, Mexico City and Zacatecas with the 56% of all cases.

SYMPTOM

• Sudden onset of fever above 38ºC.
● Headache.
● Muscle and joint pain.
● Weakness.
● Tos.
● runny nose.
● Sore eyes.
● Sore throat.

This season the following groups are encouraged to get vaccinated:

  • Pregnant women.

  • People over 60 years old.

  • Girls and boys from 6 months to 5 years.

  • People with chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, chronic lung disease, kidney failure, heart disease, HIV/AIDS or cancer.
