The Game Awards will be held on December 8, and in addition to the games released during the current celebration year, viewers can also watch a variety of trailers and news for upcoming games. The whole thing usually becomes a veritable feast of the public and last year’s edition had 85 million viewers worldwide. Valve said it will liven up the gaming party by giving viewers the opportunity to get their hands on Steam Deck completely free of charge.
According to Valve, 100 Steam Decks with 512GB of storage will be given away during the show, and there will be giveaways every minute. To participate in the lottery, users only need register interest via Steam and then keep your fingers crossed. To register, you need a Steam account that has not been banned and a purchase was made between November 14, 2021 and November 14 this year. Once registered, watch the Game Awards via Steam.TV or The Game Awards page on Steam.
The Game Awards previously lasted around two and a half hours, so in total there could be around 150 copies of the Steam Deck distributed to viewers. As there are reportedly around 85 million viewers this time around as well, the odds of winning the lottery are pretty slim, but as it’s free, it’s still worth throwing your hat into the virtual ring. Everyone who signs up gets a Steam Deck sticker to put on their profile, at least that’s something.
Is free okay?
