Belarusian opposition leader Kolesnikova reportedly improved in hospital / Diena

According to the doctors, she is improving, said a statement released by the press service of another opposition representative, Viktor Babariko, citing Kolesnikova’s father.

Kolesnikova was transferred from the intensive care unit to the ward and has a “normal appetite,” the statement said.

Although it is known that Kolesnikova underwent an operation, the doctors did not reveal their daughter’s diagnosis to the father.

The doctor of the colony where Kolesnikova is serving her prison sentence assured that after the opposition’s discharge from the hospital, the prison will provide her with “adequate conditions and treatment”.

Kolesnikova was one of the leaders of the 2020 protests against the falsification of presidential election results.

In September 2021, a Belarusian court found Kolesnikova guilty of “endangering national security”, “conspiring to seize power” and “creating an extremist organization”, sentenced her to 11 years in prison.
