The Moroccan Aguerd, in his own goal, scores his 100th goal in Qatar 2022

Doha – Canada hit their 100th goal of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with an own goal from West Ham English defender Nayef Aguerd in the match against Morocco, which came into the break with the Atlas Lions leading 2-1.

The tournament went into the day this Thursday with 97 goals. Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri scored twice for the Moroccan side and closed the gap to Canada by netting 100 goals in the competition.

With 100 goals in 40 games played, the average is 2.5 goals per game, slightly lower than in the last two World Cups.

Since France ’98, when the World Cup was expanded to 32 teams (64 games), only Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010 have had a lower average of goals per game than Qatar 2022.
