USA-Decrease in jobless claims to 225,000 – 01/12/2022 at 14:37

WASHINGTON, Dec 1 (Reuters) – US jobless claims fell to 225,000 in the week ending Nov. 26, from a revised 241,000 a week earlier, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

Economists had expected an average of 235,000 jobless claims.

The previous week’s registrations were revised up slightly from an initial estimate of 240,000.

The four-week moving average came in at 228,750 versus 227,000 (revised) the previous week.

The number of people receiving regular benefits rose to 1.608 million in the week to November 19 (the latest week for which these data are available) versus 1.551 million the previous week.
