Saudi Arabia drops to the bottom of the standings after pocketing three points, the result of one win and two defeats.
Herve Renard’s team ended the journey to the 2022 World Cup by losing 1-2 against Mexico.
The coach also admitted that Saudi Arabia deserved to lose to Mexico.
Indeed, according to Hervé Renard, Saudi Arabia could have lost with a more crushing score if their goalkeeper, Mohammed Al-Owais, hadn’t performed brilliantly.
“The result doesn’t reflect the reality of the match, because we would have deserved to lose with more goals if it weren’t for Al-Owais,” said Herve Renard, quoted by Sky SportsThursday (1/12/2022).
“He (Al-Owais) saved us in the third minute and we couldn’t handle Mexico’s intensity and enthusiasm in the duel.”
Furthermore, the French coach explained that the physical conditions of the Saudi national team players had actually worsened.
As a result, they were unable to stop Mexico in their final Group C match for the 2022 World Cup, WIB this morning.
Furthermore, Mexico are playing well because they have the ambition to score many goals to qualify for the knockout stage.
“We have suffered physically and have to adapt to defender Ali Al-Bulaihi’s injury,” said Hervé Renard.

“Mexico are the better team and we know they will play aggressively to score more goals and qualify for the next round.”
“The squad is made up of 26 players and we have to deal with what we have.”
“Yes, injuries have affected us, but there are no excuses. Against Poland we were the better team, but we weren’t efficient in the last third, but we played badly today,” he said. Saudi Arabian coach adds.
