Qatar is one of the countries with the lowest fuel prices. In fact, the price of a liter of mineral water is so low that it is 95 RON more expensive than fuel!
This is what detikOto observed during his week in Qatar. The price of RON 91 fuel oil is sold for 1.95 Qatari Riyals per liter or the equivalent of Rp. 8,322 (1 Qatari Riyal: Rp. 4,270).
Meanwhile, for RON 95 fuel, the price per liter is 2.1 Qatari Riyals or the equivalent of IDR 8,968. With such a cheap price, car users do not hesitate to say super full, i.e. full tank when refueling.
The price of fuel in Qatar is even cheaper than a liter of mineral water. In vending machines, the price of 330 ml of mineral water costs 1.3 Qatari Riyals. Meanwhile, the price of mineral water per liter is around 4 Qatari Riyals.
The price of fuel in Qatar fluctuates as a result of trends in world crude oil prices and takes into account several other factors. For example, RON 91 fuel just lost 0.5 Qatari Riyal, it was previously sold for 2 Qatari Riyal. Meanwhile, the price for the last 95 RON has not changed, namely 2,1 Qatari Riyal.
For comparison, the price of fuel in Indonesia is clearly more expensive than in Qatar. If RON 91 fuel in Qatar does not reach Rp 10,000, RON 90 fuel here costs Rp 10,000 per litre, and that too is already receiving subsidies from the government. Without subsidies, RON 90 fuel costs IDR 12,600-IDR 14,050 per litre.
So when the RON level is higher, the price is more expensive. RON 95 fuel in Indonesia, for example, is sold at prices ranging from IDR 14,160 per liter to IDR 15,100 per litre. Prices for unsubsidized fuel have just undergone adjustments as of 1 December 2022. The only fuel in Indonesia sold for less than IDR 10,000 per liter is only subsidized diesel, which is IDR 6,800 per litre.
