Blood donation campaign in Hausen above Venerena

Blood supply is a challenge even in cold weather, writes DRK in a press release. Blood is urgently needed every day. The approaching winter raises fears that blood supplies will become scarcer. The DRK is urgently calling for blood donations, it says. On Thursday, December 1, the DRK on availability Hausen ob Verena invites you to a blood donation appointment between 15:00 and 19:30 in the Verenahalle. As a thank you, donors will receive half a takeout chicken and a chocolate Santa. There is also a contest.

Donors can also get answers about donating blood by calling the toll-free number 0800/1194911 (free) or at https://www.blutspende.de/blutspendetermine/spendeorte/21206-blutspende-in-hausen-ob-verena.

The blood donation service of the German Red Cross (DRK) in Baden-Württemberg-Hessen is currently able to supply hospitals according to their needs. However, the “procurement traffic light” is still a long way from being “green”: Some blood preparations only have a short shelf life, so sufficient donations must be available every day. Currently the number of own preserves is sufficient for about two and a half days. A four or five day supply would be safer.

Blood is needed continuously and every day. In Hessen and Baden-Württemberg alone, more than 2,700 units of blood are needed every day to ensure an uninterrupted supply in hospitals and to provide adequate care for patients of all ages. The goal for the next few days must therefore be that all offered blood donation appointments are well attended. The DRK blood donation service therefore urgently requests blood donation.
