England have confirmed a ticket to the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup after winning against Wales in their third Group B match. Compete at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan, Wednesday (30/11/2022) WIB of first morning, The three lions won 3-0.
England also qualified for the knockout stage as Group B winners. They picked up seven points from three games, followed by the United States with five points.
Rashford contributed two goals in the match against Wales. The Manchester United forward has now scored three goals while in Qatar and also graced the list Top scorer of the 2022 World Cup.
Rashford’s performance contrasts with his appearance at Euro 2020 which was held last year. Rashford, who had shoulder problems, was only a cover player and was one of the penalty takers who missed in the final against Italy.
Rashford also performed poorly with MU and was parked by the England team. However, the 25-year-old’s performance has now returned, as can be seen from his score with MU (8 goals and 3 assists in 19 games).
“This is a challenge for him. I met him last summer, had a long chat with him and he is clear on what he needs to think and do,” Southgate said as reported by Sky Sports.
“You can see at his club there has been joy in his form this year and it shows in training with us.”
“We have a very different version of the player to last summer’s Euros. He was able to produce those moments tonight and could have scored a hat-trick.”
“It’s good for him and therefore good for us,” said Southgate.
England will face Senegal in the round of 16 World Cup 2022. The duel between England and Senegal will be played at Al Bayt Stadium on December 4th.
